Lewis and Clark Newspaper Article

Exactly two years, four months, and twelve days ago, the explorers named Captain Lewis and Captain Clark set out to explore the unknown west. The Captains came back last night and what a story did they bring back with them. They had seen bears weighing about 1,000 pounds they named grizzly bears and brought a HUMONGOUS set of horns they called big horned sheep (for a good reason). They had crossed very very VERY big mountains and found a river bigger the the great Missouri River (full of big fish). They came back with seeds and berries that are not known of over here (garden lovers: the seed are going to be sold form the White House this Spring). The best of all: they claimed the land all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The two captains are going to be traveling to the White House to tell President Jefferson about their discoveries in the new world.

Star Wars

On Friday I saw Star Wars II. I had seen number III and half of number VI about two or maybe three months before (I'm not watching them in order) and so far, I like II the best. The second movie really explains things about the third (they probably all do the same about the next). I Really want to see all the movies (so don't tell me anything about the movies I haven't seen(I wrote the ones I've seen)).

The US Government

The U.S. Government is split into three parts. The first one is the executive branch. Next is the legislative branch. Last is the judicial branch.
The executive branch makes sure that the people obey the law. The President is the leader of this branch. He has lots of jobs. One is to tell the army what to do and where to go. He also talks to leaders of other countries and tries to make peace. Sometimes the President has an idea for a new law. He tells his idea to Congress.
Congress decides if the law can be made because it is part of the legislative branch, which makes the laws. Congress is split into two parts, the Senate and the House of Representatives. All laws Congress makes must follow the Constitution.
The last branch, the judicial branch, makes sure the laws follow the Constitution. Sometimes the people think that a law that Congress makes is unconstitutional. The people go to court and talk about why they think the law should be changed, and the judges decide what to do about it. The judicial branch also decides if a person is guilty of breaking the law and how to punish people who do.
The U.S. Government does lots of jobs, but we help too. we pay taxes, work in the military, and vote.

I wrote this for school. I got the information from the book called "How the U.S. Government Works". It's a pretty good book.

George Washington

George Washington was a very brave man. He served in the French and Indian War, and after that was a general in the Revolutionary war. He was the first president of the United States, and was successful in war (that’s why he was our general). George Washington was very rich and proud, too. There was a man who said that he could slap George on the back, but thought better of it and just tapped him on the shoulder, but just that made him look like the guy HAD slapped him. One thing I think of when I think of George Washington is the picture of him crossing the Delaware River. George Washington is and important person to our country.

A Conversation Between a Sock and a Shoe

Sock: Hey shoe, how are you?
Shoe: I'm doing fine. What are you doing here?
Sock: Ethan is going to piano lessons and so, of corse, I'm going too.
Shoe: Well then we'll have lots of time to talk to each other, right.
Sock: Yep, we'll have lots of time.
Shoe: Did you know you stink a bit?
Sock: Me? What about you? Your the one who walks in the dirt all the time.
Shoe: There is that...
sock: I guess I would smell too, but you can blame Ethan for that.
Ethan: Hey sock, shoe, what are you talking about.
Sock: Well...
Ethan: Don't tell me, I heard everything and sock, how is it my falt that you smell bad?
Sock: I don't know but...
Ethan: Shush. I'm going to wear some different socks that don't make fun of me.
New sock: Hey shoe, hows it going? I guess we are going to have lots of time to talk, right.

go vikings

Yesterday my dad and I went to a Vikings game. I would have told you before hand, but I didn't remember. It was really fun (but loud) and we had a good time. The best part was that we won. There was a time when one of the Vikings players leaped over the bunch of players and tackled the QB. When the ref called a flag against helmet to hemet and the crowd saw the replay they went to booing like crazy and for the next 30 minutes, when ever the ref called a flag against the vikings, the crowd would boo like crazy. anyway, it was a fun game and my dad and I had a really fun time, and after the game we went to see my grandpa and grandma and cousin for dinner. It was a really great time. :D I can't make this a link so you can copy it and go to it. file://localhost/Users/James/Pictures/Lightroom/2009/11-15%20Vikings%20Game/20070110-IMGP0028.JPG
